More than 200 peace and justice activists crowded into the Morrell Reading Room at Curtis Memorial Library in Brunswick, Maine, to hear veteran CIA analyst Ray McGovern address U.S. intelligence on Iraq and Iran.
Ray McGovern's career as a CIA analyst spanned 27 years. In January 2003, after it became clear that intelligence analysis was being corrupted by political pressure to justify an unprovoked attack on Iraq, McGovern and other members of intelligence community created Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. VIPS now includes more than 50 former professionals from the CIA, the Defense Intelligence Agency, the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research, Army Intelligence, the FBI, and the NSA.
Introduced by Maine veteran and poet Doug Rawlings. Recorded live on May 26, 2006.
